At Blackburn & Elrod Orthodontics we truly have an amazing staff! We would be amiss if we didn’t tell you about each of our team members! This month we want to tell you about our fearless leader, Dr. Blackburn!!!

Birthday: February 6

How long have you worked at Blackburn & Elrod Orthodontics? Four years in Kansas City, MO and 20 years in MA, TX, NC, CA, DC and Argentina.

What is your job position? Husband, Father, Sunday School Teacher, Pancake Maker, ATM, In-N-Out Ambassador and Orthodontist. Previously Dentist, Dental Hygienist, Molecular Biologist, Tutor, Pizza Deliverer and Lifeguard.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Animator

What do you like to do in your free time? Swim, cycle, run, repeat

What age in your life would you like to go back to, and why? Anytime in school (high school, college, graduate, dental, orthodontic residency) because every year seemed the most challenging and most rewarding.

If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? In-N-Out (I’m the ambassador right?!)

What cheers you up or makes you happy? Any beach, any day

Who is your hero? Edward Angle (professional hero) Michael Phelps (sport hero) Walt Disney (visionary hero) JK Rowling (literary hero).

      What was your favorite grade in school? Elementary: 3rd grade because I studied Dinosaurs.

      Middle School: 7th grade because I traveled alone for the first time.

      High School: 12th grade because I knew everything. College: 3rd year because I met my wife.

      Dental School: 4th year because my daughter (Jordan) was born.

      Orthodontic Residency: 1st & 3rd years because my daughter (Cora) and son (Wade) were born.

Why did you choose your profession? I love how orthodontics encompasses so many fields — physiology, biology, sociology, psychology, chemistry, mathematics, physics.

Describe yourself in one word: Californian

Best childhood activity: Swim team
